piraterealm unlocks and fun farming
First Trip:
Choose any crewmate, the ancient skull key curio, and the Rigged Frigate ship.
Island 1: any of Dessert, Crab, or Glass Islands, for cocoa of youth or one of two meh shop unlocks.
Island 2: Prison Island permanently unlocks a third choice of crewmate, for greater flexibility on all future visits.
Island 3: anything.
Signal Island has a meh shop unlock,
and Tiki Island has one too if you bring a Mixologist mate.
Storm Island permanently unlocks a curio which is required to visit Trash Island (and makes outrunning storms more likely).
At the end of your first sailing trip, open the shop and buy a PirateRealm party hat for +1 Fun from all PirateRealm adventures.
Red Roger:
To fight Red Roger, take a Wide-Eyed/Harqubusier mate to Skull, Cemetery, and Fortress islands in that order.
This route is the most Fun you can get from combats because of the high concentration of plastic pirate monsters on these
islands. After you unlock the third mate, you'll be able to take this route five out of six trips. Do, whenever able, unless
unlocking something else. Defeat Red Roger for the first time unlocks Red Roger's flag as a curio, and he always drops one
random piece of himself:
Red Roger's red right foot: accessory, +1 FunPoints from sailing adventures when equipped
Red Roger's red left foot: accessory, +1 FunPoints from island combat adventures when equipped
Red Roger's red right hand: 1-handed weapon, +50 physical damage in PirateRealm
Red Roger's red left hand: off-hand, +100% item drops in PirateRealm
Mates:
Wide-Eyed/Harquebusier mates are best, required to find Skull Island and Red Roger.
A Cusinier mate lets your first island choice be Dessert Island, home of the useful and expensive cocoa of youth.
Beligerent/Cryptobotanist mates unlock Jungle Island, which permanently unlocks a +15% meat shirt in shop.
A Mixologist mate taken to Tiki Island permanently unlocks a meh autoperm skillbook in shop.
A Pinch-Fisted mate is a good source of gold for unlocking the lucky gold ring in shop by finishing with 1000+ gold.
Mates who are none of these provide trivial bonuses to sailing.
Curios:
The ancient skull key lets you visit Skull Island and find Red Roger.
The bloody harpoon makes sea serpents drop lots of gold, and using it to kill one permanently unlocks an accessory in shop.
The cursed compass can be sold to a merchant vessel for lots of gold; it might return later as the recursed compass,
required to visit Glass Jack's Hideout and permanently unlock the Glass Jack's spyglass curio.
Glass Jack's spyglass lets you visit Key Key for island 1, a source of Daily Dungeon keys.
Red Roger's flag will attract hostile ships while sailing, useful for extra fun and unlocking the Rigged Frigate.
Ships:
To maximize fun/ticket, you want to maximize adventures spent sailing by choosing the slowest boat.
This is the Rigged Frigate until you unlock the Menacing Man o' War by defeating 10 civilian ships ever.
To maximize fun/adventure, you want to minimize sailing adventures by choosing the fastest boat.
This is the Speedy Caravel until you unlock the Swift Clipper by outrunning 10 storms ever.
Sailing:
While sailing you will probably encounter a merchant vessel. In addition to food and grog enough for your remaining sailing
adventures, you want to buy glue to have on hand at all times. Gluing your wrecked ship back together is lots of Fun, but
without glue shipwreck is virtually no Fun for one turn. Shipwreck is a possible outcome of fighting sea serpents, pirating
other vessels, and failing to outrun storms.
Combat:
The mandatory accessory limits your base stats to 20/20/20, and you cannot adventure in PirateRealm with any buffed stat
higher than 100. Consider bringing -ML to the island combats.
Vape Ghost on Cemetery Island has physical immunity.
Signal on Signal Island has 50% physical and elemental resistance.
Strong Wind on Storm Island reduces all damage sources to 1 each, and has 70 HP.
Other Unlocks:
Crab Island, Glass Island, Isla Gublar, Signal Island, and Temple Island all have shop unlocks on your first visit.
Temple Island also has a familiar, but you can't visit without all four Red Roger equipment.
Defeating 50 plastic pirates unlocks an outfit piece.
Finishing with 150+ grub will unlock the pirate fork in shop.
Finishing with 150+ grog will unlock a good skillbook in shop.
(Selling the cursed compass curio makes both easy.)
Good to Know:
Ezandora wrote a great piraterealm script, but you might want to manually handle mate/curio/ship setup before running it,
to make sure you know where it will go.

Grub, grog, gold and guns reset each day. Running out of any while sailing will get you more, but cuts into Fun gains.
Fun persists through ascension, and you can spend it on epic food if you finish at least one trip in ronin/hardcore.
(Even in Bad Moon!)
Snake Island was cut from PirateRealm's design, but you can still wish to fight a blind snake for factoids.
Summoned and copied monsters fought outside PirateRealm do not give Fun. Bummer.
