This project is almost ready for release, but a few minor bugs that need to be cleaned up and a few pages that are no longer necessary and need to be rerouted.
The next feature I'd like to add in is Sort by Genre so that people can notice any regularly ignore genres and stop wasting money on them.
I first got a Steam account for the release of Half Life 2 with the terrible looking, buggy, downright awful app and now, 11 years later, they are the giants of the PC gaming industry. Honestly the fact that this side project can exist at is astounding. The reason I made this app specifically though, is much more humble. I did it for teh lulz. It's great to watch your buddy turn and glare at you as your app rolls over the $3000 wasted mark.
The main way I plan on keeping up with this is by using some kind of project management software (most likely waffle) to outline features. Most of my plans for it are pretty concrete so this should be relatively easy to track.
I have a friend who shares both my passion for Steam and Coding that I'm excited to collaborate with on this. Aside from helping me brainstorm more silly features, the second pair of eyes will be enormously helpful.
Once the main bugs are patched, I want to send it out to my Facebook/Steam friends, and if that doesn't crash and burn and has a positive response, I'll see what the /r/gaming subreddit thinks.
This project will be ready when a user can select any Bus in CO, select any stop that Bus hits, and select any other Buses that hit that stop.
In the future I'd like to get really fancy and include real time GPS tracking via RTD and Google.
I didn't get my first car until I was 22 and had a job that started at 330am. Until then it was a bus pass and a longboard. This app was made to solve 2 problems. If I was going somewhere complex, I had to figure out all the transfers beforehand, wasting time that could be spent travelling. Even more annoying if you just miss the bus while you were planning. The 2nd problem, was waiting at a bus stop in the winter, seeing a bus coming and getting excited for warmth, only to realize it wasn't your bus. With this app, you can at least know that the bus you see in the distance is the 0, not the 15 that you need.
I pretty much intend to the same here, using Waffle to outline features and bite things off piecemeal.
I could see myself collaborating with anyone who would be interested really. This would be an open source project.
The main way I'd distribute this is through local channels, FB, friends, people who use public transit somewhat regularly. If it's polished enough, I'd love to send it off to RTD since I know they encourage developers to use their API.
This project is already released in production, but nothing I've contributed. I'd love to bring in some Javascript testing for the web app side of this project.
In the future, I'd like to dabble a bit in C# and learn how to interact with hardware more. Specific features dependent on what main dev and owner are interested in.
I've been working this side hustle for a few years now. A friend of mine started up a photobooth company, mostly doing prints for the mitzvahs at his synagogue before he expanded to weddings and even Quakecon and is now looking into franchising. I've been invested on the ground level, running the booth at events, but it would rock to be able to contribute in a bigger way and get to see my own code in action.
Since this is technically someone else's project that I'd be contributing to, I'll be able to easily setup meetings and create arbitrary deadlines to simulate pressure and improve performance...but without the pressure.
There are already 2 devs working on this and I'd be joining them as the 3rd.
The main way I'd get this out there is by showing off our app at events. No other way to see it!
