Thanks a lot, this worked well.

However it uses Ctrl+j Ctrl+k to scroll, if anyone wants j to down, k to up, l to enter, you can use this modified version:

rofi.kb-row-up:                      Up,k,Shift+Tab,Shift+ISO_Left_Tab
rofi.kb-row-down:                    Down,j
rofi.kb-accept-entry:                Control+m,Return,KP_Enter,l
rofi.terminal:                       mate-terminal
rofi.kb-remove-to-eol:               Control+Shift+e
rofi.kb-mode-next:                   Shift+Right,Control+Tab,Control+l
rofi.kb-mode-previous:               Shift+Left,Control+Shift+Tab,Control+h
rofi.kb-remove-char-back:            BackSpace

Nice! But do you plan on never having to type j or k when searching for programs?
