Think twice before supporting the Clippy movement.

Think twice before supporting the Clippy movement. The backstory is evil!

The "Clippy movement" is where you change your profile picture to Clippit from Microsoft Office. This is because corporations are removing consumer rights.

The person who started this, Louis Rossmann, seems to support consumer rights. But he supports a corporation, known as FUTO, that says "Computers should belong to you, the people."

FUTO funds "open source" organizations. They also build their own apps, but they use a Source Available license.

They claim that they want to give users control, but they don't even support the 4 Essential Freedoms of Software. They doubled down on this with their Source-First statement. Source First is basically their way of saying "Source Available" but they claim it's not the same because there "isn't as much restrictions".

Their philosophy (they even admit that they add "restrictions") is so bad it doesn't even follow the OSI's "open source" definition.

So obviously they don't care about getting away from Proprietary Software, which is what you should do.

Here's a list of proprietary software which can be replaced with free software.

Proprietary Free
GitHub Codeberg
YouTube PeerTube
iOS Replicant
OSX GNU/Linux
FUTO Keyboard Fossify Keyboard
GrayJay LibreTube

Will update this over time!

As usual, when you say "no?", the correct answer is "YES". Always

Transparence is awesome

It sucks

Hyprland and other tiler make Linux more usable by having a more keyboard centric workflow so i have to use the mouse less which is really great but yes x11 tiler do exist :)

What is the problem with mice? I personally think mice are nice.

You have to move your entire hand by half a meter or so, instead of moving your fingers by half a centimeter.

Learn some touch typing, it will do you good. The only input method faster than keyboard is direct neural connection and we don't have the technology yet to do it safely.

It's not what I meant. I meant a device you wear like a hat that provides direct neural input without drilling into your head. And such devices are quite a way off for now (no, the EEG headbands are not what I'm talking about).

Mouse cursor movement speed can be adjusted to a sensible value

Either it will be too fast to use (1mm move will land it on the other side of the screen), or it will be still slower than keyboard shortcuts. There's no middle here.

I can type without looking at my keyboard. I'm typing this without looking at my keyboard.

Actually stupid. Are these the same people who use Neovim for "productivity"?
If you're going to use something that crazy, try EXWM.
