4. 20 Google Search Tips to Use Google More Efficiently by Joseph Hindy (15 min)
- Briefly describe (in your own words) each of the tips below AND provide an example of a search that captures the sentiment of the tip
- Tip 2: If you put quotes around the phrase you're searching then it will search for the phrase in the order that you typed it. "Sony Playstation Controller"
- Tip 3: If you put a hyphen before a word in your search it will exclude any results that include the hyphenated word. "Golf -cars"
- Tip 4: You can use a colon to search a specific site for your phrase. "Marvel Studios site:reddit.com"
- Tip 9: You can search for multiple phrases or keywords at the same time to find sites that include both phrases or one of the two keywords. "grass OR weeds"
- Tip 13: It is better to google using the words of the solution that youre looking for rather than the question that you have. "writing an iteration in Ruby"
- Tip 14: Only use important key words when googling instead of writing out the whole phrase or question. "Ruby iteration syntax"
- Tip 17: When googling, try to use the right descriptive words. If you dont find what youre looking for, try changing a few of the words. "iteration error in ruby"
