- What are three Slack shortcuts and/or features that will contribute to your productivity?
- Using shift + enter to create a new line when typing a message will be helpful. I was just hitting enter and that would send the message when I was actually trying to create a new line.
- Using option + shift + down/up arrow will help me navigate through my unread threads faster.
- Using /remind [@someone or #channel] to [what] [when] will be helpful when I am waiting to hear from someone or a certain thread rather than just checking every so often.
What's the use of the staging area in git? on Stackoverflow (10 min)
The idea of the staging area is frequently one of the trickiest concepts to wrap your head around when you're first learning git. Read the question and answers (or do your own Googling on the git staging area). Then, create your own metaphor comparing the staging area to something in real life.
- Type your metaphor below: A teacher grading papers will write down each students score in a notebook, the staging area, and commit the grades by submitting them into the system one at a time. This way she can check for mistakes and make changes before permanantly submitting the grades into the system.
