Please respond to the following questions in a reflection (4-6 sentences):
- What is your greatest strength and how do you know?
- I believe that I'm very accountable and loyal person. People tend to confide in me and come to with problems. In previous jobs I always volunteered for training new employees or teaching workshops. I know this is my strength, not only because I've told, because I try to be the person that I would want to depend on.
- How do you work best?
- In an organized enviroment. But, also in a stressfull enviroment. I naturally stay calm and collected in times of stress and chaos which allows me to remain productive. An organized or poorly run enviroment makes me shift to a "fix it" mode. Knowing when to speak up and offer suggestions or when to not, I find to be a strength.
- What is your greatest area of improvement?
- Confidence and grit. Getting out of my fixed mindset is going to be my biggest hurdle. Maybe it was the way I was raised or my job experience? But being confident or perseverant was precieved at being arrogant or pushy. I'm hoping this time at Turing will give me the confidence and courage I need to succeed.
- How do you hope to maximize your strengths for your new career in software development?
- I'm a well adjusted human who actively listens to others, stays focused on the job and adapts to change as needed without complaint. This will help in software development with both customers. The internal customer (co-worker) and the external customer (the actual customer).
- How might knowing about your strengths and working preferences benefit you as a software developer?
- I suppose knowing both your strengths and "opportunites" will benefit you. I know going in to this career that I have a lot of the soft skill of being a loyal, respectfull, empathetic and reliable employee. I work well with all, in groups, on my own to find answers and can adjust when needed. However, being able to transform into a more confident human with grit will make me more well rounded for my employeer.
