Job Search Action Plan

Module 4 Goals

List your longterm goal(s) of what you want to accomplish by the end of module 4

  • By the end of Mod 4, I hoppe to have a solid network of individuals who work in the industry that I can turn to for questions and advice during my Job search. I will be having my first child at the end of Mod 4 and hope to have a really solid idea of companies of interest to me so that come the new year I would have a few job offers to consider.

Strategy To Achieve Goals:

In this section, break down your longterm goal into smaller goals that you want to work on each week and/or day

Coding (both including your module 4 curriculum and anything outside of it):

How will you focus your learning to accomplish your longterm goal?

  • Start practicing logic type questons, at least a few per week, that might be asked of me during a technical interview.
  • Work to keep incorporating all the technologies I have learned over the last three mods in my work and projects during mod 4, especially those areas which I feel I need the most practice.
  • Continue to read articles relevent to what we have been learning and new technologies of interest to stay current.

Opportunities Research:

How will you continue researching companies and contacts? How will you utilize your Trello Board?

  • Keep current on job postings of interest with notifications and frequent searches.
  • Cold outreach as I see appropriate.
  • As of now my I have not been actively updating and using my Trello Board to its potential as a tool, I plan to make this a great focus during mod 4 to stay organized during my search, by posting weekly goals to myself and tracking companies and job listings of interest, as well as organizing notes about contacts I have made.

Cold Outreach/Network:

*Who will you reach out to? Have you considered talking with alumni about their own networking practices when they started their job search?

  • I plan to reach out to to mentorship programs, one in particular which was recommended to me as a great potential contact.
  • Attend meet-ups.

Personal Branding (A personal branding section is optional):

Timeline:

What will you do when?

Module Tasks:

What will you do throughout the module?

  • Throughout the module I plan to continue touching up my resume, and work on creating my brand starting with making my linkedIn and Github personal pages really reflect who I am, the work I have done and what I am looking for in my new career.
  • I also plan to research what type of small scale web development projects are out there to continue to build my portofliio of work.

Weekly Tasks:

What will you do throughout each week?

  • Each week I would like to find and contact at least one new person in the industry that can be a good addition to my network.

What I Will Work on with Meg

What advice do you need? What would be helpful to talk through? Let Meg know here!

  • I need advice/help on how to really break out of my shell on making cold outreach, although we have had great lessons on the approaches I still find this something difficult to do.
