Line 31 just needs to be changed from real_fopen64 = (FILE* (*)()) dlsym(RTLD_NEXT, "fopen64"); to real_fopen64 = (FILE* (*)(const char *, const char *)) dlsym(RTLD_NEXT, "fopen64"); and then you shouldn't need the -fpermissive flag.

I had to add
-fpermissiveto the gcc command line to get this to build with gcc 15.(Apart from that it worked perfectly on two different distros, and brought much joy to my nephew, and myself :) )
