OCaml - list recursively regular files in a directory
(** [dir_is_empty dir] is true, if [dir] contains no files except
* "." and ".."
*)
let dir_is_empty dir =
Array.length (Sys.readdir dir) = 0
(** [dir_contents] returns the paths of all regular files that are
* contained in [dir]. Each file is a path starting with [dir].

The seven rules of a great git commit message

Source: http://chris.beams.io/posts/git-commit/#seven-rules

  1. Separate subject from body with a blank line
  2. Limit the subject line to 50 characters
  3. Capitalize the subject line
  4. Do not end the subject line with a period
  5. Use the imperative mood in the subject line
  6. Wrap the body at 72 characters
  7. Use the body to explain what and why vs. how

An example with an oneshot service on systemd. #systemd #systemd.service #oneshot

README

Services declared as oneshot are expected to take some action and exit immediatelly (thus, they are not really services, no running processes remain). A common pattern for these type of service is to be defined by a setup and a teardown action.

Let's create a example foo service that when started creates a file, and when stopped it deletes it.

Define setup/teardown actions

Create executable file /opt/foo/setup-foo.sh:

PostgreSQL command line cheatsheet

PSQL

Magic words:

psql -U postgres

Some interesting flags (to see all, use -h or --help depending on your psql version):

  • -E: will describe the underlaying queries of the \ commands (cool for learning!)
  • -l: psql will list all databases and then exit (useful if the user you connect with doesn't has a default database, like at AWS RDS)
