Look at your initial StrengthsFinder reflection that you completed in week 1 -- how have your perceptions of the top 5 themes changed?
- I felt like my strengths finder was spot on in identifying my strengths. My top 2 were Achiever and Learner. However, because of the struggles I have experienced this mod, my perceptions of these have altered a bit. I have been forced to reframe what these look like to me. Learing at a slower pace has been extremely frustrating for me. Responsibility was my 3rd strengh. I look at this a bit differently now as well. Not only do I feel a strong sense of responsibility to my pairing partners, I more so feel a strong sense of responsibility to myself.... to do the things I need to do to take care of myself and to teach myself the material until I have a solid understanding (you cant necessarily depend on others for this).
How are you different today than when you first started at Turing? Where are you stronger now than on day 1?
- I am different in a sense that I realize there are some things in life that may take a little while longer to learn. Until now, I have always been quick to pick up on things... I have never struggled learning. This is very unnatural for me. However, this experience has definitely made me a stronger person. The achiever/determination part of my personality is stronger than ever. I have pushed myself way past where I though my limit was.
Considering how you describe these themes, how do you want others to see you as you continue to progress through Turing?
- I want others to see me as a fighter.... Through all my struggles, my ambition, determination, and focus have not changed. I want others to see me as someone who is continuously learning and growing. My fourth strength was focus. I hope others can see the focus I display for achieving this goal.
How might these themes play a role in describing your Turing story?
- My 5 strengths absolutely define my Turing story... Achiever, Learner, Responsibility, Focus, and Harmony. These 5 themes are apparent everyday I am here. I will continue to set goals, celebrate small achievements, learn something new everyday, be responsible to myself and others in my cohort, stay focused in the moment and on the larger goal of leaving here with a great understanding of FE develpment, and embody a sense of harmony when dealing with all others here.
Even though your Turing story isn't finished yet, what do you envision for your development in future mods? How will this story end?
- I am excited to see how I develop professionally and personally during my time at Turing. I have no doubt I will leave a stronger person than the day I got here. I look forward to continuing this learning journey everyday. I think I will learn to celebrate smaller achievement goals and not hold on to the larger picture of achievemnt that I arrived with.
