You've now experienced several remote classes in Mod 0. We want you to take some time to reflect on the following questions.
- Reflect on your experience in Breakout Rooms - how well did you engage with other students in your group? Did you notice times when you may have talked over other students? Were there times others talked over you?
- I think that for the most part there was a good amount of engagement in the breakout rooms. At times I was a little quiet and not as engaged if I felt like my answer wasn't on par with everyone else, but the frequency of these has made me feel more comfortable sharing especially during the driver/navigator exercises. There were times when I talked over other students and other students talked over me but we were able to resolve this so that it wouldn't continue to be an issue during discussion.
- Reflect on your experiences communicating via Slack - what has been challenging about this format of communcation? What wins have you experienced so far with using Slack as a communication tool?
- One of the challenges in trying to communicate over this format has been just trying to figure out how to format the text or attach screenshots but I've been messaging myself to get in some practice on these things. It's also helped me get into the habit of using a few of the googling techniques to find answers. One of the wins that I experienced was posting a question about the Mod 1 Prework and someone answered my question. I'm not exactly sure what's going on with my Zoom meeting Calendar links, but thanks to Slack I've been able to access the Zoom meeting links. I also think it's good to get notifications about what's going on at Turing so that I don't forget to do certain things.
Pull up the calendar you created for Mod 0 and use it to reflect on the following questions.
- How well have you stuck to the schedule/calendar you created? What has worked well so far?
- If I'm being completely honest, I haven't really been sticking to the schedule/calendar that I created. At times, I worked on things a lot longer than I scheduled it for. This was especially true for my Mod 1 Prework. The selfcare definitely took a bit of a backseat because I feel like this is a priority for me right now. I think what has worked really well is being able to see when assignments are due so that I actively work towards completing them ahead of time.
- What areas of your calendar need to be adjusted for the remainder of Mod 0? What lessons have you learned that will help you in Mod 1 as it relates to time management?
- The areas of my calendar that need to be adjusted for the remainder of Mod 0 are the Mod 1 Prework time allotments as well as the self care appointments. Some of the lessons that I've learned that I think will help me in Mod 1 as it relates to time management is making sure that I include the due dates for all of my assignments so that I can visually see how I need to manage my time.
- How is your overall progress in completing the Mod 1 Prework?
- I think I'm doing pretty well. I'm almost done with Section 2, so I'll start working on Section 3 today.
