Completely non-exhaustive but a good start!
- Crwst, Cardigan - brunch/lunch only
Big cafe/restaurant in town — it’s a bakery but also has big dining in area and does take away sandwiches, cakes etc - Pizza Tipi, Cardigan
Good pizza, the potato puffs are incred, right on the river - Yr Hen Printworks, Cardigan
Never been but meant to be good - The Castle Inn, Cardigan
Not really eating - they have sausages rolls at 5pm and crisps/nuts all the time — but it’s a great pub (and part of the fforest family), if it’s a sunny evening they have a big deck out back — but also can take your pints across the road and sit outside The Albion Hotel where they do fancy cocktails - The Boy Ashore, Aberporth (Thursday - Sunday)
Fforest’s beach side burger joint - Tafell y Tan, Llangrannog
Great pizza place right on the beach - The Beach Hut, Llangrannog
Take away fish and chips but also sit in cafe thats a bit fancier - Mano a mano, Llangrannog
Fancy pasta popup - The Pentre Arms, Llangrannog
Great pub, right on the beach, does baskets of chips and scampi, the least ‘foodie’ of all these options but still great - Bocs Du, Newport (Wednesday - Sunday)
Alumni of fforest - also burgers/hot sandwiches very good - Llys Meddyg, Newport
I haven’t been in like 15 years but it’s the fanciest restaurant around - also has a good (natural) wine bar/shop
In order of distance from Cardigan (ranging from 5mins to 20mins)
- Poppit Sands
Closest beach, has a Crwst outpost in the car park, very big, where the river meets the sea. Has nice sand dunes. - Mwnt
National Trust beach - the smallest but quite dramatic with the big pointy hill, sheltered too. Great views from the top of the hill - Aberporth
two beaches, one on right is dog friendly, this is where The Boy Ashore is, also a pub and chip shop. Very small carpark, best to do drop off then park up the hill either side of the beach - Tresaith
also v pretty, at low tide can walk around the rocks to see a waterfall coming off the cliffs into the sea, there’s a pub called ship almost on the beach - not a lot of parking - Penbryn
Biggest beach very pretty, cafe in the car park (Plwmp Tart) - which is 10mins walk from beach... quickest walk is up the road, but very pretty walk through the woods (starts in car park) - Llangrannog
Also very pretty and has the most amenities right on the beach, ice cream, chips, pub, pizza place and sauna. Probs our fave
- Wildlife Park, Cardigan/Cilgerran
Accessible from town or Fforest - you can walk down a very flat footpath to town, there are hides for bird watching. In the middle is the Wildlife Centre, which has a shop and cafe. There are good walks around there you can get really close to the river, there are good spots for swimming. - Gorge walk
From the fforest lodge you can walk down to the wildlife park, then loop around and walk up the gorge back to Fforest — the last half an hour is all steps and you get great views but it’s steep and will leave you breathless but it‘s good — you pop out at the top of fforest right by the house/crogs/raised beds. - Cenarth
Further up the river, big waterfall, can do a little walk around there, some pubs/cafes near by - Ceibwr/The witches cauldron
Just past Moylegrove is a dramatic bit of coastline, you can park up and then walk south along the Pembrokeshire Costal path and you get to some sea arches and a blow hole, with dramatic rock formations and views. The walk is props less than 30mins each way but its quite up and down - Costal path
Every beach mentioned above - are actually connected by a coastal path with smaller ‘secret’ beaches dotted along the length. It’s all very nice and quite strenuous, biggest prob is usually if you go one way, you don’t fancy the walk back, works best if you have two cars and can leave one either end — probs the best section is to walk Aberporth to Penbryn OR Penbryn to Llangrannog.
- Preseli Hills
- Bluestone Brewing Co.
- Welsh Wool Museum
