I have always loved languages and figuring out how to express and communicate information. I studied abroad in Costa Rica for six months while I was in college to learn Spanish. I enjoyed this experience because I felt that a whole new world had opened up to me that I did not have access to before. I was able to make new friends and experience a new culture because I worked hard to learn a new form of communication. After my trip abroad, I pursued jobs in both political and business areas. These jobs taught me quite a bit, but they never gave me that sense of wonder and creativity that I experienced when studying a new language.

I am studying coding at Turing for the same reason that I learned Spanish in Costa Rica. I love to discover the ways in which we express ourselves through both human lanugages and computer languages, through technology. I have been able to create new hubs of information and communication through my studies at Turing, and I am immensely proud of how far I have come. After a lot of practice, I have been getting more comfortable with creating with languages like Ruby, HTML, and CSS, and frameworks like Ruby on Rails. I am looking foward to building and sustaining databases, websites, applications, and other structures that we all rely on to connect with other people and share information.
