How to update the Go version

System: Debian/Ubuntu/Fedora. Might work for others as well.

1. Uninstall the exisiting version

As mentioned here, to update a go version you will first need to uninstall the original version.

To uninstall, delete the /usr/local/go directory by:

Prerequisite: latest Docker for Mac on MacOS Sierra

$ brew update
$ brew install --HEAD xhyve
$ brew install docker-machine-driver-xhyve
$ sudo chown root:wheel $(brew --prefix)/opt/docker-machine-driver-xhyve/bin/docker-machine-driver-xhyve
$ sudo chmod u+s $(brew --prefix)/opt/docker-machine-driver-xhyve/bin/docker-machine-driver-xhyve

$ curl -Lo minikube https://storage.googleapis.com/minikube/releases/v0.18.0/minikube-darwin-amd64 &amp;&amp; chmod +x minikube &amp;&amp; sudo mv minikube /usr/local/bin/

Requirements

Minikube requires that VT-x/AMD-v virtualization is enabled in BIOS. To check that this is enabled on OSX / macOS run:

sysctl -a | grep machdep.cpu.features | grep VMX

If there's output, you're good!
