The most useless MIUI system apps you can safely disable:

  1. com.miui.systemAdSolution
    Why useless?
Manages ads in the MIUI interface. Disabling it removes ads, which not only declutters your phone but also improves the user experience significantly.

  2. com.miui.analytics
    Why useless?
Collects usage data for Xiaomi. Turning it off boosts your privacy without affecting any core functionality of your device.

  3. com.miui.personalassistant
    Why useless?
The MIUI personal assistant provides unnecessary widgets (like news and shortcuts). Let’s be honest, how often do you use it? Exactly.

  4. com.miui.voiceassist
    Why useless?
A voice assistant that pales in comparison to Google Assistant. If you don’t rely on this feature, it’s just hogging space.

  5. com.miui.contentcatcher
    Why useless?
Extracts content for recommendations and contextual features. These are often poorly implemented and rarely helpful.

  6. com.miui.bugreport
    Why useless?
Only useful for developers to send bug reports to Xiaomi. Disabling it has no impact on your day-to-day usage.

  7. com.miui.smsextra
    Why useless?
Adds extra SMS features that are rarely used. You won’t miss it.

  8. com.miui.hybrid / com.miui.hybrid.accessory
    Why useless?
Manages hybrid apps (like web apps). If you don’t use Mi Browser or web apps, you can safely disable this.

  9. com.miui.touchassistant
    Why useless?
This floating shortcut bubble can be intrusive and is seldom used by most people.

Less useless, but still dispensable:

  1. com.xiaomi.joyose
    Why useless?
Collects device and sensor usage data. If you’re not tracking these metrics, it’s unnecessary.

  2. Translation services (com.miui.translation.kingsoft, com.miui.translation.xmcloud, com.miui.translation.youdao)
    Why useless?
If you already use Google Translate or a similar app, these integrated services are redundant.

  3. com.miui.nextpay
    Why useless?
This handles MIUI’s payment feature, which is irrelevant if you don’t use Mi Wallet.

  4. com.miui.audiomonitor
    Why useless?
Monitors audio inputs for voice commands. Disabling it doesn’t have any noticeable impact on everyday usage.

  5. com.miui.mishare.connectivity
    Why useless?
A quick file-sharing feature (Mi Share). If you don’t exchange files with other Xiaomi devices, you don’t need it.

5. com.miui.mishare.connectivity
Why useless?
A quick file-sharing feature (Mi Share). If you don’t exchange files with other Xiaomi devices, you don’t need it.

This is useful as it allows transferring files from your xiaomi device to any other device with chinese manufactures like oppo vivo oneplus iquoo realme

When i remove com.mi.android.globalminusscreen (appvault), it does make step counter inacessible.
I think step counter is simply part of app vault, but it's shame, because app vault is super annoying, while step counter i do use sometimes.
Do you know about some workaround for this to use step counter without appvault? (tried 3rd party pedometer apps, but wasn't happy)

Update: installed "google fit" and so far it seems to work. But let me know if there's other way...

Also since i've uninstalled some of those apps, i've noticed that some other (non-xiaomi) apps suddenly show more ads. Perhaps xiaomi puts their own adblocker into their phones and we've managed to uninstall it :-)

Today I debloated my Chinese Xiaomi 15 Ultra (HyperOS) and removed the following apps based on suggestions in this list. I was extremely careful to keep a few apps that I have had issues in the past after removing and also those which other people suggested that I keep anyway. I could have gone way more nuculear but even the "safe" list of apps on ADB AppControl has apps that have been reported to cause frequent errors and popups. I don't mind losing 1-2% of my battery with some garbage in the background that cannot phone home anyway, rather than brick my brand new flagship.

Here's the list of stuff that was safe to delete. I used ADB AppControl 1.8.6 which I highly recommend.

com.miui.systemAdSolution
com.miui.analytics
com.miui.personalassistant
com.miui.voiceassist
com.miui.contentcatcher
com.miui.bugreport
com.miui.hybrid
com.miui.nextpay

I realise there is probably more I can remove. I might come back later and edit my post with even more. Though from here on, I will likely trial disabling apps instead of removing them. I am also using the Live Wallpapers and a few other things so I felt like keeping that.

I also use NextDNS though so I block 98% of trackers there. Though it is still good to remove bloatware apps that could mercilessly drain battery in the background.

So I also blocked these hosts on NextDNS (I am also using all the other blocklists they provide but some of these were not covered):

sdkconfig.ad.xiaomi.com
taobao.com
tracking.miui.com
micloud.xiaomi.net
ccc.sys.miui.com
api.zhuti.xiaomi.com
amap.com
transifex.com
screentime.comm.miui.com
api.xmpush.xiaomi.com
thm.market.xiaomi.com
zobj.net
idm.api.io.mi.com
ai.service.platform.xiaomi.com
sandai.net
com.xiaomi.gamecenter.sdk.service

You should NOT block sdkconfig.xiaomi.com if you don't want to get dozens of errors and not be able to install unknown apps/sideload apps.

EDIT: I accidentally disabled Game Booster and could not get it back on. I fixed it by going into the Xiaomi Security app. Scrolling down and opening Game Booster. Allowing internet quickly and turning it back on within its own settings. Doing it via the "Touch Bar" didn't work (it was greyed out). I also had to download and install the security app via GetApps Xiaomi store.

I also got a Chinese Xiaomi 15 Ultra (HyperOS 2), I also removed the following :

com.miui.systemAdSolution
com.miui.analytics

But then I wanted to replace the Xiaomi package installer by Android default by doing this :

pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.miui.packageinstaller
pm install-existing --user 0 com.android.packageinstaller

It first looked perfect, but then I got into bootloop after rebooting and I had to reset my phone in recovery mode.

Any idea how to do that please ?

You can't replace the package installer. It's never been possible. Not sure who told you that. Even if you could there's no way to update it.

This is exactly why I am not playing around with this device and removing system apps. I don't care about a little spying. I just don't want Chinese stuff all over the screen. I really recommend other people unless you want to risk your time and money. Delete only what is safe.

After disabling com.miui.miwallpaper 桌面壁纸, the themes app crashed, and the phone wouldn't activate or apply any themes after the phone reset. I re-enabled com.miui.miwallpaper and everything was fixed immediately. I also disabled com.xiaomi.discover and everything is working great, and I think I completely prevented the automatic download of Xiaomi software because the Xiaomi updater app had all the network and file permissions.

My "game turbo" keeps resetting my game list, is there any way to prevent that? I have disabled almost 21 apps.

Sorry to hear about your keyboard problems. I probably had already replaced the original keyboard with a privacy friendly alternative like AnySoftKeyboard or OpenBoard prior to removing the bloatware, as some preinstalled keyboards are sending every keystroke home. In order to keep the original keyboard do not remove the app "com.google.android.inputmethod.latin". The goal of the above list was to reduce also tracking by Google. If you want to keep all Google apps, services, do not remove anything, which starts with "com.google...." and "com.android...". If one app too many was removed, the ADB command "adb shell pm install-existing <PACKAGE_NAME>" will bring it back in most cases. The app "com.android.updater" provides system and security updates and is therefore essential. "com.xiaomi.discover" obviously upates preinstalled Xiaomi apps, including the bloatware. It is probably still better to keep it, as long as some Xiaomi apps remain. "com.xiaomi.xmsf" and "com.xiaomi.xmsfkeeper" form the Xiaomi Service Framework. I did not remove them, though they are recommended by other users for removal. I do not know, what difference they make. Also with "com.miui.global.packageinstaller" I followed a conservative approach and kept it, though some sources report, that the Google tool "com.google.android.packageinstaller" is sufficient to do the job.

You can nuke the "com.miui.global.packageinstaller" package as the stock android installer takes over just like any other Android Skin does (Motorola, Samsung are some of OEMs that use stock installer)

Hey @Piyush09785 did you restart the phone after uninstalling all these things?

  • No bootloops or random reboots after removing the com.xiaomi.finddevice app?
  • And the gallery works fine without issues after removing com.xiaomi.micloud.sdk?

A few years ago, something in the gallery stopped working properly. It turned out the cause was the removal of com.xiaomi.micloud.sdk. I've finally discovered thanks to AppManager and its Shared libs tab in settings. Even tho no cloud-related features were being used at the time. In fact, everything with cloud in the name had been removed, except this SDK. It was restored solely to fix the gallery, and possibly other apps too, though the details are a bit fuzzy now.

Hi @Piyush09785 did you uninstall com.miui.powerkeeper or only set System Optimization off from device settings?

I already said, I didn't try with System/MIUI Optimization off, and don't intend to risk the bootloop again, I have zero idea and want to keep it that way about anything beyond software rather than trying trial and error about uninstalling apps hoping that will improve my device efficiency and performance.

As I already told you, I am running an older version of Android intentionally, that's why this information is only relevant for users with the same particular situation.

I restart everytime specially after uninstalling high risk apps to risk checking the objectivity of bootloop.

Yes, I didn't get bootloop after uninstalling com.xiaomi.finddevice and restarting the device. But...

PLEASE NOTE

...that the subjectivity would definitely be different for users of different devices and different software, e.g., I can uninstall com.xiaomi.finddevice, while can't uninstall com.miui.powerkeeper, but maybe some user of even older MIUI device could uninstall com.miui.powerkeeper, while can't uninstall com.xiaomi.finddevice.

As you have seen, I have uninstalled mi cloud and mi account apps, therefore I can't check and also don't intend to give my personal information to some closed source software and neglected privacy policy.

As you have read the disclaimer, I assume you know the correct use of my information if you decided to read it. For more elaboration, I would say that the uninstallation of the com.xiaomi.micloud.sdk was a personal choice and doesn't indicate a matter of educating the public.

I don't need to repeat even after you have read the disclaimer but I am still interpreting for you. Saying that like you are assuming we are in the same situation is your personal choice even after reading the disclaimer, believing that we have the same device and same software is careless.

For more information, regarding the com.xiaomi.micloud.sdk, I noticed that updating the gallery app from version 3.5.4.16 to 3.5.7.24 probably removes the mi cloud related feature and replaces it with option of management of google photos from the gallery app. Also, enabling/disabling the hidden MIUI/System Optimization is possible by tapping four times on the Reset to default values under AUTO-FILL column and checking the hidden memory usage section is possible by opening the hidden activity com.android.settings.Settings$MemorySettingsActivity or com.android.settings.Settings$AppMemoryUsageActivity by using an app like de.szalkowski.activitylauncher 1.15.2.

For Audiophiles, I have information that searching for Side Toolbox in Settings and enabling the settings Video Toolbox allows to open a secret menu in the manually selected video apps, e.g., YouTube is selected by default, just open to see the sidebar. Under the Dolby Atmos section in the sidebar, there's the option for Expanded Stereo (Earphones only), setting it to 4, increases the default effect to feel much more behind, I tested, it works to change the default effect of the Dolby Atmos in all apps, regardless of whether they are selected as video apps, it seems to be just a setting hidden by Xiaomi at factory.

There seems to be no option to turn off Fast Charging on my device. Instead, the Rapid Fast Charging could be calmed down from , e.g., 50W Max to 30W Max and 20W Max Average. The trick could be by turning on Boost Charging Speed through the hidden settings. The activity class of the Security app package com.miui.securitycenter is com.miui.powercenter.fastCharge.FastChargeActivity.

There's only the Performance Mode of com.miui.securityadd sidebar while playing a game on this device. But the hidden settings of the activity class com.qualcomm.qti.performancemode.PerformanceModeActivity of the package named com.qualcomm.qti.performancemode could most likely apply the same Performance Mode at the system/kernel level for all apps (No, actually,

com.android.settings.fuelgauge.PowerModeSettings

provides 'power settings' of (default) balanced, and a performance option, which being superceded from old MIUI, it could most likely work far better, I searched, assumably it changes CPU or/and GPU settings). Below the switch in the applying screen shows the info that "It will provide better performance in most scenarios but there will be a bit higher power consumptions as well". After enabling Performance Mode through this way, I noticed that Performance Mode runs in the RAM ensuring the setting keeps enabled.

Hello, I have a question. I removed several bloatware apps such as Mi Account, but the entry is still present in the settings. When I click on it nothing happens, but ideally it shouldn’t be there at all… Is there a way to remove bloatware and also their entries in the settings?

On my "Xiaomi 17 Pro", uninstalling "com.miui.personalassistant" caused the widget picker not to work any longer. (Long-press on home screen still brings up the icon; however, clicking it doesn't do anything anymore.)
"com.miui.personalassistant" actually seems to be the "App Vault" / "-1 Screen", which I don't need, but apparently it's connected to the widget picker. Or is there another way to add widgets on HyperOS 3?
Thanks a lot!

It's usually uninstalled per user basis since android has introduced guest users etc in A9 so dw it's just like a hollow it doesn't take up much storage or run in bg - Unless you chose to uninstall for all users :)

I don't want to comment on the ApkMirror website. Versions comparison for the Security app:

Based on my observations:

0.1, 0.2, 0.3, for china rom, can still install with the risk of crash and reboot, reportedly automation activity works on these
1.1, 1.2, 1.3, for global rom

The 80% charging limit is possibly based on hardware, and the software settings introduced after updating the Security app don't work.

7.5.4-230317.1.2
Pre-installed on my device.
After updating, 'Install via USB' option removed which becomes visible after disabling MIUI Optimisation, also seeing running apps in the autostart manager is removed, ram usage is hidden activity on random versions, open with Activity Launcher.

8.0.2-230708.1.2
Reportedly
"Does it work On Android 10 miui 12.0.8 global?"
"No more power usage details."
"I still have that "
"On MIUI 14/Android 13 only. On A12 still present."
"looks like you can automatically block calls from numbers that have been reported by other users and some permission settings got removed."

8.1.0-230721.1.1
Reportedly
"xiaomi 11T -work"
"My Redmi Note 9 Pro Global is OK."

8.1.2-230729.1.1
Reportedly
"Poco x5 Pro A13 M14 Global"

"Latest version for global but using old UI...v8.1.2 much better as it uses new UI...tested on Poco x3 pro global"
"Crashes when I click on the button in the red circle ( I have an Poco f2 pro with MIUI 14.01 and android 12)" (Edit button in the main page of the Security app)
"Try Xiaomi Security 8.1.5-230824.1.3"

8.2.4-231108.1.2
Don't have the below libraries and permission.
Reportedly after installing 1.2, System Apps Updater stopped giving the 1.1 updates

"works perfectly on my Global version of Redmi Note 10 Pro MIUI 14.0.8.0 TKFMIXM (Android 13) - also here the video toolbox works with no drawbacks. it seems that versions of xiaomi security which end with "... 1.2" are made for the international global versions. Before i installed this, the xiaomi auto-updater always installed some version that began with 8.7.... and ended with 1.1 but as soon as i installed this .....1.2 version, the update offered me no newer one so this particular version works fine for me. thanks."

8.6.1-231103.1.1
Extra battery option called "Nighttime Mode" (with com.miui.powerkeeper activity hidden from the security app, possibly based on other battery optimisation not based on this package, just placebo as other features, don't work), "Automatically turn off some features to save battery when sleep is detected"
Feature extending to maybe version 8.7.4 or 8.7.5, or 8.7.6, or 8.7.7.
New libraries
androidx.window.extensions
androidx.window.sidecar

8.7.0-231130.1.1
com.miui.gamebooster.access.ACTIVITY
New permission possibly called 'Receive data from internet' from this version onwards, which possibly caused my com.miui.securityadd UI to permanently be updated, not fixed even after uninstalling, only factory reset can fix.
So, new GPU Graphics settings introduced in Game Turbo, provided partly by the same package, but the security app manages the "play with screen off" feature of the games sidebar.

8.7.2-231202.1.1
Last version with 'play with screen off' for sidebar of video and games.

8.7.3-231214.1.1
Removed the above for video sidebar and retained for games sidebar.

8.7.4-231222.1.1
Removed for both.

8.7.6-240118.1.1
Reportedly fixed problem
"It solved the problem of battery drain and also added the feature of deactivating applications google It works on a device redmi note 11 4G Global"

8.7.7-240229.1.1
Reportedly comes through the MIUI Store

8.7.8-240416.1.1 (obtained via System Apps Updater)

8.8.0-240105.1.1
Reportedly giving problem possibly for old device
"When I record an image, it doesn't show up in the video. I entered and exited the game with game turbo, I opened the security application, those dark-toned colors change their tones while scanning. In addition, the dark tones (including other applications) become another grayish tone. When you lock and unlock the screen, it gets better.

This only happens when you leave the brightness and saturation on in the game and exit. I think the problem is in the game turbo, which is a service add-on, or both"

8.8.3-240129.1.1
Hyped
"longer battery life and less overheating"
"less drain.. less overheat with new feature.. but limit gaming performance.."

8.8.5-240222.1.1
Hyped same performance as 8.8.3

9.1.8-240702.0.1
Reportedly crashed on the same device as me, possibly on the latest HyperOS

9.2.3-240712.1.1
Hyped last version with the normal performance during gaming, limited on 9.2.5

9.2.5-240830.1.1
Hyped reduced overheating while gaming

10.5.1-250414.1.1_40001051 (obtained via System Apps Updater)
I tested 'Performance Optimisation' of game turbo.
More reduced FPS possibly to reduce CPU heating and throttling during gaming.
Floating window works even after disabling MIUI optimisation.

UPDATE 06/01/2026: I realised just today how much ignorant I am because of my fear which is cowardice covered as fear. I fear risking breaking my software, while I should keeping risking so that I learn to be better, and develop and improve moving forward.
TLDR; I realised today that enabling experimental freeform windows doesn't create its own feature, which was my prejudice. It rather complements because it actually is the MIUI floating window instead. No one dares to tell the truth, or rather they don't know because they are uneducated.

And a small side effect I just noticed is that, the display refresh rate detector and changer are now obsolete.
(TLDR; it was delayed just like before, read below, no, actually, it is broken just like before) 60 fps shows while the option to reduce not working, 120 fps permanent, didn't try to revert by disabling the option.
VERY IMPORTANT: The DPI override as well as the touch override by the MIUI optimisation even after off is fixed. Now touch feels very fast and responsive. Now high DPI works for full screen game, making things smaller, which it didn't do earlier. This was the trick my soul has been looking for a year.
GAME TURBO HACK: (TLDR; it was just delayed, I thought the feature was removed)
Now, the screen touch destruction by com.miui.securitycenter and com.miui.securityadd are gone, their options are hidden away as they are not supported anymore. It's like I am using a custom ROM without actually using one, being on stock MIUI 14 Global Rom.

THE MIUI BYPASS MAGIC: (insignificant effect, battery drains same and ram usage increased to like before after a day of usage) I did find and do what most can't imagine is possible. I didn't update my MIUI 14 to HyperOS, so it is stock ROM. Only by updating to HyperOS, can I improve my device poor RAM management and therefore Battery Life. But what if I tell you I found a way to fix the poor RAM management and fix battery drain of the Android OS. Android OS from 2 GB usage to 1.6 GB usage POCO Launcher from 400 MB usage to 250 MB usage How is this possible? Just do the above magic! (I need to try with MIUI optimisation ON also which will most likely make things worse, but I don't know until I try)

12.0.3-251114.1.1

It is written that it has something to do with testing, accessibility and logging, security and notifications, this app possible just runs once after boot and collected log info for local and remote purposes.
I just reinstalled to remove the error of Shelter work space, since it is version 13, it has less chances of being a Xiaomi bloatware
