It's been brought to my attention that https://x.com/tjstebbing is leveling a barrage of accusations at my address. I will just highlight what's (almost) true:
- The tipjar was indeed created by the original core team as a way for the community to say 'thank you' for their work. However the maintainers at the time consisted of Ross, Max and myself. I personally proposed the tipjar to be multisig - at the time I was the only one with experience with that and p2sh/scripting in general.
- I did receive a letter 10 months after it was sent. I explicitly asked for a timetable on the public release of that (as you can see in my response), but this never was responded to, but now I can share it, as the initial letter has now been published. Response letter of 2022-06-29
- The purpose of those funds was part of the completed tipjar resolution brokered between the old tipjar keyholders by Marshall Hayner, who did a fantastic job of being a mediator and gaining consensus. The mention of the keyholders is correct too.
- The issue is he was invited to the table to share those in good faith, and told everyone to go fuck themselves." I recall my precise words, when Ross, after establishing "the foundation" secretly, said "it's not too late to join", to have been: "been there, done that, fuck no", but I may have had a more creativity at that time. You can read more about that in my letter above.
Every thing else is to my recollection false or taken out of context.
I've added a detached pgp signature to this gist with my known gitian key to certify that this letter indeed came from me. Finally, after over 3 years, this apparently can be shared.
