Pitch

• NameYourself is an application that allows users to collaboratively brainstorm band names.

Problem

• NameYourself will help to solve the issue of trying to pick band names. Coming up with a name is difficult, it requires creativity, and must be unique in order to file for copyrights and trademarks.

Solution

• NameYourself will allow users to utilize a chatroom, a brainstorming notepad, and various word generators to help assist in the brainstorming process. The user or a group can then cross reference their ideas with the library of congress database, and then be linked to register with the LOC after a cleared name has been selected.

Target Audience

• NameYourself is an app focusing on musicians. This application has potential to connect with a sizeable userbase and a very wide age range.

Features

1. Users can create groups and add other users to those groups.

• While every feature of NameYourself can be utilized by a single user, the application will be most benefical when used collaboratively in groups.

2. Brainstorming Pad:

• The brainstorming pad is a mini word processor that allows the users to put name ideas. Ideas posted in this processor can be run through the included dictionary, thesarus, and rhyme generator to help in devloping the idea.

3. Library of Congress Reference:

• Users can submit ideas from the brainstorm pad and reference the name to registered copyright and brandnames.

4. If the user(s) submit an idea that is not associated with the Library of Congress, they will be linked and instructed on how to file their band name with the library of congress.

Integrations

• NameYourself will consume from multiple APIs to give it's users an abundance of useful data.
  1. First, we will pull in from the Library of Congress API to validate whether the users potential name infringes on copyright.
  2. Next, we will consume from the wordsapi, which will give users access to a dictionary and thesarus to help aid in the brainstorming phase of the app.
  3. Lastly, NameYourself will consume from the rhymebrain api, this suppliments the wordsapi, give the users even more creative tools to brainstorm with.
• Users will be able to use Google or Facebook OAuth to create their accounts.
