Craft Drink Recipes for Cold Brew Coffee

Craft Drink Recipes for Cold Brew Coffee

Cold brew coffee is an excellent Craft drink agent, especially with Gin & Tonic OR just Tonic Water, that's also a good starting point. Although Cold brew coffee can be used with any type of alcohol (Vodka, Whisky and of course Gin), we even have Coffee liqueur.

Here's a collection of some of the common but exciting craft drinks that we can prepare with Cold brew coffee.

1. G&T Cold Brew Coffee Cocktail

IMO, roughly this should be a good ratio for a G&T Cold Brew Coffee Cocktail / Martiniwithout olives:

Ingredients

  • 50 ml Gin
  • 30 ml cold brew coffee (chilled, strong)
  • 100 ml tonic water

This 1 : 0.6 : 2 ratio lets the gin’s botanical character and the coffee’s rich, smooth bitterness play nicely against the sparkling, slightly bitter tonic.

Method

  • In a chilled glass filled with ice, pour 50 ml of your preferred gin.
  • Top with 100 ml of tonic water.
  • Gently add 30 ml of cold brew coffee, preferably pouring it over the back side of a spoon to create a separated, crystal-clear effect. Trust me, you're gonna love that.
  • A twist of lemon or an orange peel can add a bright citrus note that complements both the gin and the coffee.

2. Kaapi Orange Martini (shake it - shake it)

"A sophisticated cocktail balancing the robust character of cold brew with fresh orange juice."

Ingredients

  • 40 ml cold brew coffee (chilled, strong)
  • 40 ml vodka (Absolut OR MM if you are poor)
  • 15 ml freshly squeezed orange juice
  • 5 ml simple syrup (this is optional, for those who want sweetness)
  • Ice (for shaking)
  • Orange twist or peel, for garnish (and also for those cool photos)

Method

  • Add the cold brew coffee, vodka, orange juice, and simple syrup (if using) into a shaker filled with ice, preferably something that you can enclose, best: cocktail shaker, better: glass/metal bottle, worst: you can use stirrer or any plastic bottle
  • Shake vigorously for about 20 seconds until well chilled and slightly frothy.
  • Strain into a pre-chilled glass
  • Garnish with an orange twist or a thin slice of orange peel

3. Kahlúa Orange Cold Brew Cocktail

"A modern twist that layers coffee, citrus, and a splash of tonic for a refreshing, slightly bitter finish."

Ingredients

  • 30 ml Kahlúa (or your preferred coffee liqueur)
  • 30 ml vodka (Absolut OR MM if you are poor)
  • 30 ml freshly squeezed orange juice
  • 30 ml cold brew coffee (chilled, strong)
  • 45 ml tonic water
  • Ice cubes
  • 1 orange wedge, for garnish (and also for those cool photos)

Method

  • In a chilled glass filled with ice, pour the Kahlúa, vodka, orange juice, and cold brew coffee
  • Top off with tonic water and give a gentle stir
  • Garnish with an orange wedge

4. Citrus Espresso Tonic

"A light, effervescent beverage where the deep notes of espresso meet the crisp, refreshing qualities of tonic water and citrus."

Ingredients

  • 30 ml cold brew (chilled, strong)
  • 120 ml tonic water
  • 15 ml fresh lemon or orange juice (adjust to taste)
  • Ice cubes
  • Lemon or orange twist, for garnish

Method

  • In a chilled glass filled with ice, pour the tonic water
  • Slowly add the cold brew on top
  • Squeeze in a bit of citrus juice and stir gently to combine
  • Garnish with a twist of lemon or orange peel

5. Experimental Variations

A. Grapefruit Twist

For an extra bitter and aromatic note:

  • Idea: Use 40 ml orange juice, 25 ml grapefruit tonic, and 30 ml cold brew coffee to craft a roughly 100 ml drink.
  • Tip: Adjust the ratios to balance the inherent bitterness of grapefruit with the sweetness of orange juice.

B. Herbal Infusions

Enhance your cocktail’s complexity by incorporating:

  • A small sprig of rosemary, or
  • A few dashes of homemade orange-cinnamon syrup.
  • Note: Experiment with the amount of simple syrup if you need additional sweetness.

C. Non-Alcoholic Version

For a refreshing mocktail:

  • Ingredients: Combine cold brew coffee with tonic water and a splash of citrus juice.
  • Method: Follow the Citrus Espresso Tonic recipe, minus the alcohol and adjust the ratios to suit your taste.

Considering, all these drinks can be very personal and the coffee’s intensity can vary based on the roast and brew method, so feel free to tweak these methods until you find the perfect balance.
