SciPy+Numba odeint vs Julia ODE vs NumbaLSODA: 50x performance difference on stiff ODE

SciPy+Numba odeint vs Julia DifferentialEquations.jl vs NumbaLSODA Summary

All are solved at reltol=1e-3, abstol=1e-6 using the fastest ODE solver of the respective package for the given problem.

Absolute Performance Numbers:

  • SciPy LSODA through odeint takes ~489μs
  • SciPy LSODA through odeint with Numba takes ~257μs
  • NumbaLSODA takes ~25μs
  • DifferentialEquations.jl Rosenbrock23 takes ~9.2μs

How to install Ubuntu with LUKS Encryption on LVM

How to install Ubuntu with LUKS Encryption on LVM

My work requires us to have full-disk encryption, so these are the steps I use.

The basic idea is to create a LUKS-encrypted partition which is used as an LVM Physical Volume.

The GRUB boot partition isn't encrypted, but everything else is.

These steps tested and working on 22.04 (jammy) and 20.04 (focal).

Wireguard and iptables restrictions for multiple users

Wireguard and iptables restrictions for multiple users

If you don't know what Wireguard is, well, you should. It's fast, easy to setup and highly configurable. We will configure Wireguard for multiple users with various restrictions using iptables.

Assumptions

This should fit most setups (not mine though 😉)

Nvim-R Demo

How to use Neovim or VIM Editor as an IDE for R

Note: This tutorial is written for Linux based systems.

Requirements

R >= 3.0.0

To install the latest version of R please flollow the download and install instructions at https://cloud.r-project.org/

Neovim >= 0.2.0

Neovim (nvim) is the continuation and extension of Vim editor with the aim to keep the good parts of Vim and add more features. In this tutorial I will be using Neovim (nvim), however, most of the steps are equally applicable to Vim also. Please follow download and installation instructions on nvim's GitHub wiki https://github.com/neovim/neovim/wiki/Installing-Neovim.
