The Woke Invasion in FOSS

Is Red Hat and wokeness the real devil of Linux ? Let discuss here, I could add info to it.

What can exist in FOSS but in good form

  • Clear and Ubiased Moderation
  • Apolitical Code of Conduct
  • Projects rules espcially the one focused on technical merit and professionnalism
  • Banning of people (in extreme case after warning except for some exception)
  • Making money of your project
  • Asking for money or donation for your work
  • Being a not greedy [for profit] corporation
  • Having DISCLOSED sponsor

What must stay away from FOSS :

  • The opposite of the above points
  • Politic
  • Unrelated or incompatible ideology
  • Anything else

The Harsh Reality

what truly sad is nobody take my nuance take seriously, one side (the "woke") think it is "facsist" and that I am "weak" to ask for accommodation or to stop discriminating us since they think I am priviliged (when being a AuDHDer in a neutrotypical world is not being "priviliged", but actually marginalised),

while the "outsiders" or the middle (outside of that whole culture war) think I am exagering or that playing the victim card , or that i am obesses with that bs war (when i just want it top end) or that i am just "complaining" when i just try to make the worrd a better place and try to make my safe place safe again.

and the other side , i often like the outsider but they may agree with me on that wokeness but that with the raisonable one (probanly really rare, I have not see it), while the one i see are the reactoniers which are like the wokie but the reverse or mirror version of them while they want to fix me ... or that too weak or tooo emotioal and that i need to "man up! which is a quite ableist to said and quite sexist :(

but these can be mix together thought ...

Until GNU/Linux become dangerous to use, then yes i might switch to BSD... but not before. i was not really serious to switch to bsd ... but maybe i will eventually, like i might try it , but i dont want it to replace linux, cause while i might despise the politics around it, i still like the tecnicals aspect of it and it is my safe zone and my audhd brain does not like changes

Rust will be a hard dependency in "C"Python, Linux, Apt, etc. and probably soon Pacman. You should try out FreeBSD in a VM to get used to it.

While i do not like the rustification of the linux kerneL and other project, i cant stop it, so i am going to say on GNU/Linux and create or found my own confort zone. unless something truly bad like a malware on the kernel like one guy did try on system, i am going to stay on GNU/Linux. My autistic brain like stability and hate changes.

Rust is fine for the drivers in the kernel. Memory safety in drivers should be a thing and Torvalds is a stickler about quality code, so it can work out there. This is where Rust actually accels. Even OpenCL drivers (rusticl) actually is very accurate in execution with applications.

The problem of actual applications is this. Applications in execution have to account for system variations. Rust can not do this. This is why Rust is harder to optimize for performance. This is why developers traditionally use C or C++ based code. You can optimize C in the compiler, or C++ in the code. With Rust... You have to avoid memory safety traps, which goes against the Rust philosophy.

As much as FreeBSD is a headache, due to the lack of a decent Linux emulation layers to support Steam, that are actually up-to-date with current Steam support vectors, it is a better made operating system.

probably true, but cant confirm since i do not do that low level programming yet.

i prefer modularity... like if systemd became evil , then i can swich it , you can't do that with BSD ... so that plus the fact that it probably won't work great on my laptop then i am staying on GNU/Linux the most possible . i do not like change

true, but some of it like freedom and real equtiy/inclusion can be good, but these people stop won't if we stay too neutral

That's the problem, they won't quit even with the pushback. They literally want to just destroy FOSS completely and replace it with some fundamentalist driven closed source, invite only ruse of FOSS.

When nobody but a select few can contribute to FOSS, then it's not true FOSS anymore.

yeah these woke claim to for open source and free software but they are certainly for close mind and purity test which are anti-freedom and not very open

I'm currently working on a GhostBSD VM to learn the ins and outs.

GhostBSD really seems to have picked up a lot of package improvements, especially to the Linux emulation layer now exclusively uses RockyLinux 9, which has really helped with improving Steam support.

GhostBSD really seems to have picked up a lot of package improvements, especially to the Linux emulation layer now exclusively uses RockyLinux 9, which has really helped with improving Steam support.

can you change the emulator layer to something more modern than rocky (which is basically free rhel)?

but rhel is very very "[Stable]" so old... i want something like Arch or OpenSUSE Tumblewweeb or Fedora in package/system for a layer

RockyLinux9 is currently the default installed, but I think you can use the debootstrap package to pull in Debian Sid, if they fixed the scripts, then chroot into it.

I checked more packages and it feels like GhostBSD cleaned up a lot of bad ports too. Many ports on the FreeBSD core distribution were kinda rotting.
