Update your CHIP / PocketCHIP to the latest Debian 11 (bullseye)

Why should you?

Well, CHIP & PocketCHIP shipped with the now ancient Debian 8 (jessie) and really old kernel 4.4. There's a big security risk if you take your device online in any meaningful way.

Not just that, the software support from various app developers stopped a long time ago.

Refer to this release schedules and this page for LTS support information

A tutorial to upgrade NXT pocket C.H.I.P to Debian Buster

Pocket Chip Debian 10 Upgrade Guide

The purpose of this tutorial is to walk through the required steps to upgrade NXT chip (or pocketchip) from debian jessie to debian buster.

If you would like to start your Chip from scratch, follow the steps in the Preparation section.

Preparation (Optional)

A linux host machine, recommended Ubuntu 18.04. However I managed to do it with 20.10 with some tweak.

Pocketchip New User guide (For noobs like me)
What is Pocketchip?
PocketChip is a portable, battery-powered Linux computer with a 480 x 272 resistive touchscreen and a QWERTY keyboard. It's about as powerful as a Raspberry Pi, but it comes with a custom touch-friendly version of Linux that eschews a traditional desktop UI.
Why did i create this Gist?
Because i am a new Pocketchip user, and i ran into so many issues when i wanted to flash my Pocketchip since the company selling this wonderfull device is already defunct.
How to get started?
1.
First download the three software included onto a USB Stick and drag and drop into the pocketchip.
