job action plan deliverables

Template: Module 4 Action Plan

This is your deliverable from the Job Search Strategies I session

Module 4 Goals

List your longterm goal(s) of what you want to accomplish by the end of module 4.

  • By the end of mod4 I ideally would really like a job offer. I would like to have met at least 3 people for coffee and gone to 3 meetups to network. I will also have completed the 6 cold outreach emails ontop of whatever extra I do.

Strategy To Achieve Goals:

In this section, break down your longterm goal into smaller goals that you want to work on each week and/or day

  • Every Tuesday and Thursday I'd like to dedicate 40-60 mins to job search related research and outreach. My longterm goal is to have a job offer by end of mod4 as getting a job sooner rather than later is one of my highest priorities.

Coding (both including your module 4 curriculum and anything outside of it):

How will you focus your learning to accomplish your longterm goal?

  • I need to keep up with the stack I'd like to work in. Practice codewards, practice mock interviews to get comfortable in those situations.

Opportunities Research:

How will you continue researching companies and contacts? How will you utilize your Trello Board?

  • I'll probably look around linkedIn to see who works where and try to reach out to them then schedule coffee dates to meet. Trello board will help me keep organized with who I've heard of and who i still need to reach out to.

Cold Outreach/Network:

*Who will you reach out to? Have you considered talking with alumni about their own networking practices when they started their job search?

  • I'll reach out to former students who I meet over the Joan Clarke slack channels as well as the mentors in our posse channels. I'll also do research on people who work at companies im interested in and try and get infront of them.

Personal Branding (A personal branding section is optional):

Timeline:

  • 9 weeks (now-mod4)

What will you do when?

  • Job related research/scheduling/organizing on Tuesdays and Thursday for 40-60mins each.

Module Tasks:

What will you do throughout the module?

  • Be consistantly reaching out to employees and companies I'm interested in, going to meetups as often as I can and connecting with Turing alumn for leads and advice. I'll also try to meet with Meg frequently to talk jobs.

Weekly Tasks:

What will you do throughout each week?

  • Job related research/scheduling/organizing/interview-prep on Tuesdays and Thursday for 40-60mins each.

What I Will Work on with Meg

  • I'm not exactly sure what meeting with Meg entails other than telling her what you're interests jobwise are and updating her with what I've bene doing to reach my goals.

What advice do you need? What would be helpful to talk through? Let Meg know here!

  • I'd like to know what specific things I should be asking and talking about in the coffee dates. Also if I apply somewhere where a Turing grad works, is it kosher to shoot them a message letting them know that you go to Turing and to see if they would be willing to let the recruiter know I sent something over? How many resumes should we be sending out each week? If you have an interview scheduled and it's during classtime is that okay to miss some class?
