Define Who You Are & Where You Want to Go
### Define Who You Are & Where You Want to Go
I value helping people with solutions to problems and would like to be in an enviornment that is creative and supportive. I hope
to be at a place that is encouraging personal and professional growth so that I can be my best self. I would like to be able to
grow in a place that has a good work-life balance and where I feel appreciated and am tasked with responsibilities that I can handle.
Must-Haves: mentorship, location, salary amount, flexibility, team culture
Nice-to-Have: benefits, employee perks, tourism industry, company size.
If you could only have five of those things, which five would it be? location, mentorship, salary, team culture, flexibility

job action plan deliverables

Template: Module 4 Action Plan

This is your deliverable from the Job Search Strategies I session

Module 4 Goals

List your longterm goal(s) of what you want to accomplish by the end of module 4.

  • By the end of mod4 I ideally would really like a job offer. I would like to have met at least 3 people for coffee and gone to 3 meetups to network. I will also have completed the 6 cold outreach emails ontop of whatever extra I do.

Project Expectations:
It sounds like agile practices is the way to go. It's better to go in smaller sprints and constantly be taking the feedback and
improving it rather than doing one long delivery then having to go back and change all the things.
Some project management that I've used on projects with partners is Waffle or making issues in github. Waffle is better though since it
links to issues and is more visually appealing and interactive as well. It's a good way to stay on track so that you can keep
to your deadline goals.
What are you doing well as a pair programmer and collaborator?
I think that I always try to make myself very available during project time and that I keep in constant communication.
I think I'm also doing a good job of making sure we're all on the same page and that everyone is getting what they need out of the project.
How do you use your strengths as a team member?
I think harmony is probably my biggest one in trying to make sure that there's no conflict and everyone is happy.
I use my problem solving skills a lot as well during projects and can be adaptable when plans change.
How would you like to continue to develop your strengths?
I'll just keep using them and taking feedback as I go and trying to improve and build on my skills so that I'm a better partner for all
Date of feedback conversation: 5/10/2017
How did you prepare for the conversation? I thought about what my intent in the conversation was and tried to stick to that with the
way I was communicating so that nothing was misinterpreted.
How did the conversation go for you? What was easy about the conversation? What was more difficult?
I found the conversation to be kind of awkward but fine. I think it's important to get and give feedback so that you can try and fix
things you might not have even realized you were doing. I thought the appreciation feedback was easy but the coaching feedback more difficult.
What principles of feedback did you use in the conversation?
Name of contact
"The mentor (or alum) I contacted is Mark Miranda"
Date of contact
"03/06/2017"
Outcome (i.e., did you get a response? If not, what is your follow-up plan? Did you meet? When? What was the result?)
I did get a response and we did meet and he is now my mentor!
How do you feel like this relationship will benefit you in your longterm professional development?
Individual Reflections
Reflect on how your StrengthsFinder strengths have helped you worked with pairs and teams.
Write:
How have you changed since you started at Turing? How have your strengths helped you in that progress?
- I think I'm better at voicing my opinions and being able to work well with all kinds of people. I think almost my pairings this mod went
well and I believe my strengths played a part in that. In the past I might have been too agreeable, which is my Harmony strength,
but I was able to express my opinions more as the program goes along.
