Have you ever tried freelancing in your career?
I am trying it now, and it’s a whole new experience for me—so much so that I wanted to write about it.
When I was thinking about my career choices in the early days, the path to a freelance career was an option. But, at that time I only saw the benefits of being an employee in a company. I thought there was more assurance in it and the experience of working for a company will help me build a strong career. Which is true. But, at the same time, I was only seeing the challenges of a freelance career. I did not see the benefits of it. But now, after working for companies for more than six years as a web application developer and trying a freelance career, I see its benefits.
When you work for a company your assets are the experience you gain and the service letters you receive endorsing your employment. But, having a freelance career is like having your own business. If you run it properly and document it, it will be your asset that will continue to grow.
