 Have you ever tried freelancing in your career?

 I am trying it now, and it’s a whole new experience for me—so much so that I wanted to write about it.

 When I was thinking about my career choices in the early days, the path to a freelance career was an option. But, at that time I only saw the benefits of being an employee in a company. I thought there was more assurance in it and the experience of working for a company will help me build a strong career. Which is true. But, at the same time, I was only seeing the challenges of a freelance career. I did not see the benefits of it. But now, after working for companies for more than six years as a web application developer and trying a freelance career, I see its benefits.

 When you work for a company your assets are the experience you gain and the service letters you receive endorsing your employment. But, having a freelance career is like having your own business. If you run it properly and document it, it will be your asset that will continue to grow.

 By documenting the freelance career, I meant building a freelance profile that everybody can access. Of course, word of mouth is also a way to receive new work. But having a freelance profile on an online platform brings you even more work. And that profile is your biggest asset.
