Mod 4 Action Plan

Template: Module 4 Action Plan

This is your deliverable from the Job Search Strategies I session

Module 4 Goals

  • Network throughout Mod 4 and have plenty of relationships built with people in the industry
  • Continue to have coffee and lunch meetings with people in the industry
  • Have my resume, portfolio and interview skills all polished up 100% by halfway Mod 4.
  • Have multiple interviews by the end of Mod 4

Strategy To Achieve Goals:

In this section, break down your longterm goal into smaller goals that you want to work on each week and/or day

  • Network and Build Relationships

  • Every day I will do one of the following:

    • Strike up a conversation on LinkedIn and try to setup Coffee
  • Every week I will do:

    • Have a face to face meeting
  • Resume & Portfolio

  • Over intermission I will work every day on my portfolio and resume

  • Every week I will do:

    • Get Feedback
  • Get interviews in Mod 4

  • Every day I will do one of the following:

    • Apply for jobs
  • Every week I will do:

    • Follow up

Coding (both including your module 4 curriculum and anything outside of it):

How will you focus your learning to accomplish your longterm goal?

  • I need to build a portfolio I can show off to people. Towards this end, I will:
    • Polish previous projects and deploy to my personal site

Opportunities Research:

How will you continue researching companies and contacts? How will you utilize your Trello Board?

  • I will research companies in Denver/Greater Denver Area and Colorado Springs
  • I will reach out to people who work at companies I am interested in.

Cold Outreach/Network:

*Who will you reach out to? Have you considered talking with alumni about their own networking practices when they started their job search?

  • I will reach out to appropriate people at the companies I identify as good matches
  • I will reach out to mentors using the Turing network

Personal Branding (A personal branding section is optional):

How might personal branding pieces help you towards your goal?

  • I want to build a reputation and name for myself by branding myself at networking events so others will recognize me when I am applying to jobs

Timeline:

  • During THIS coming intermission week:
    • I already have 4 coffee dates setup
    • Polish my resume and portfolio
  • After intermission week:
    • Prioritize the job search

  • Keep pressing to learn the backend and look at more JS libraries/frameworks

Weekly Tasks:

What will you do throughout each week?

  • Try to line up as many coffee dates and interviews
  • Every day I will do one of the following:
    • Apply for a job
    • Cold outreach email
    • Do technical interview preparations

Opportunities Research:

How will you continue researching companies and contacts? How will you utilize your Trello Board?

  • Keep track of everything and follow up at a reasonable time.

*Who will you reach out to? Have you considered talking with alumni about their own networking practices when they started their job search?

  • I find companies I am interested in, then look for someone on linkedIn that looks like a good person to reach out to.
